Adding flavor to popcorn is nothing new but one wonders when and where it will stop?  At my local cinema it is impossible to get just plain salted popcorn anymore – they only sell it candied or drowned in butter, with no other options.

I wonder if at some point original flavors will be lost down the memory hole?

On second thought probably not, those nostalgia dollars are far too lucrative…

Umeboshi, the super sour Japanese pickled plum, is a favorite snack/condiment in Japan so why not on popcorn? Nice sharp spike on the popcorn taste.

Another one from the US. This time caramel popcorn didn’t have enough zing so they thought the’d add some cappuccino. I love the way American marketing minds think.

Great sugar hit … I’ve always been partial to a caramel popcorn, however not much of a note of the promised cappuccino flavor in there.
