<p>In Japan it is traditional to have chestnut based dishes for New Year, so I was very happy to discover a special flavor of chestnuts, oshiruko. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oshiruko" target="_blank">Oshiruko</a> is a sweet Azuki (red bean) porridge. Actually it sometimes has chestnuts in it, but this one has Chestnuts flavored with Oshiruko instead.</p>
<p>I tried it and the taste is very subtle. The chestnuts look to have been soaked, so the purple/red color slightly comes through on the inside of the chestnut.</p>
